To start your work with Metrics, you need to understand how various field types work. Currently, Metrics allows you to add fields of 4 types:
A short text field, great for labels and small adnotations. Once you click add, the first screen is only the title - the value you will input later on!
A long text field, where you can put descriptions and long comments. Once you click add, the first screen is only the title - the value you will input later on!
Dropdown, multi-value select list. If your projects are categorized by common, pre-defined values, you will find this especially useful. For instance, you make add a list of customers, markets, teams that will do the work, etc. You can add as many options as you want to and each has to have a value associated with it.
A date field, that lets you define deadlines, milestones and other key dates. Small calendar widgets will help you pick the exact date.
