Quick overview of Effort Modes:
|Effort Mode||How is the allocation being calculated?||Additional notes|
|Original Estimate||Based on Original Estimate - evenly distributed over Task's duration taking into account Resource's non working days.||Task have no Original Estimate - the warning is returned.|
a) Work has not been logged:
Start date until yesterday - The allocation on the past days is displayed as '0'
Current date (today) to End date - The allocation for the remaining duration is displayed as Remaining Estimate evenly distributed over remaining duration.
b) Work has been logged:
Past duration (start date until yesterday) - the allocation is displayed as Logged Work (Time spent) evenly distributed over the past duration of the task.
Remaining duration (current date (today) to end date ) - the Remaining estimate is evenly distributed over the remaining duration.
1) If the Task's Remaining estimate value is not set (--) then Original Estimate is used when available.
2) If the Task is scheduled entirely in the future (Start date > = today) then only Remaining Estimate is shown (evenly distributed over Task's duration)
2.1) If there is no Logged Work the warning is returned.
3) Task is entirely in the past (today > end date) only Logged Work is shown.
|Story Points||Based on Story Points - evenly distributed over Task's duration taking into account Resource's non working days.|
If the Task has no Story Points the warning is returned.
When the "Show overall assignment" (Enterprise feature) is enabled the capacities may be misleading. This is due to the planning process using the Board module and the fact that Story points should not be converted to time units.
